He is also the 2022 USATF Road 100-mile champion."

"Even more impressive is Arlen's heart, willpower, and dedication to to ultra-running. We're honored to have him as an athlete."

Epic Mountain Running

You will get to do amazing mountain/trail running on some of the most iconic East Coast mountain trails. The runs we do each day will be in the Pisgah National forest up and around Mt. Mitchell and the trails and ridges that surround the highest peak on the East Coast.

The trails and ridges that we will run are used in some of the classic North Carolina mountain races, like: Hellbender 100, Quest for the Crest 50K, Heartbreaker 55k and others. If you hope to do any of these races in the future this will be a great opportunity to run on these trails.

How much running will we do each day? On Thursday, arrival day, we will do a short sunset run/hike before dinner. The big run days will be on Friday and Saturday. On each of those days, after starting the day with breakfast together and debrief we will head out for an epic mountain adventure.

On Friday and Saturday we will do between 10-13 miles each day of mountain trail running with at least 3,000+ feet or more of gain. Each camper will need to be able to do at least 10 miles per day on Friday and Saturday.

When available we will try to have at least 1 spot on the run where our team will have some basic aid and snacks. Expect these days in the mountains to last between 3-6 hours.

The main big mountain days will be Friday and Saturday. Camp will end around 10am on Sunday morning.

elevate your mindset

In addition to the epic mountain running one of the main focuses of this camp will be helping you to elevate your mindset and dream big when it comes to your future goals.

The bigger Ultrarunning dreams and life dreams you go after the less those dreams are accomplished through just training more or training harder. Your next levels of breakthrough are likely going to come through elevating your mindset.

This is why on each night of the camp (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) we will have a great dinner and then hear engaging talks from coach Bobby and Arlen around mindset, mental toughness, battling fear, and the mental side of ultra running. We will also offer practical tips and teaching on best practices around racing, training, and fueling.

We will also have some fun discussion around these topics and you will get a chance to ask questions each night of Bobby and Arlen on these topics.

Food and friends

This will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded people in the trail & Ultrarunning community. For most Ultrarunners many of the people in your life think you are crazy for running as long and as far as you do, haha.

This will be a chance to get around other "crazy" people who love to run far and push their limits! In addition to friendship you will get a chance to meet others who will support and cheer you on in going after big dreams and goals.

Each day we will also eat great dinners together, laugh, and share stories of the day! Thursday night dinner will be provided, Friday breakfast and dinner, Saturday breakfast and dinner, and Sunday breakfast will be provided. We will also have snacks and such for you to grab to bring onto the trail for the two big run days.

accommodations & details

Accommodations

This is may be one of the coolest parts about the camp! The camp will be hosted at Alpine Village, which is a small community with Chalet style Townhouse units sitting at 3200 feet on top of a ridge. Many of the units have 50 mile unobstructed views. And the even more epic part is that Alpine Village has a little known trail that connects to all of the trails around Mt. Mitchell, which means the runs each day will start from where we are staying.

Most of the Chalet style units are 2bed/2bath units, aside from one larger house we will also have rented as our basecamp. When signing up for camp you can choose single occupancy (meaning you will have your own bedroom) or double occupancy (where you will share a room with twin beds or bunks). All of the units we will stay in are Airbnb short term rentals. From Alpine Village you will see some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

Schedule

That night we will have another great dinner, hang out together, and then hear another talk and Q&A with Bobby and Arlen.

Saturday September 23rd: On Saturday we will follow a pretty similar schedule to Friday. We will have breakfast, a big mountain run, and then dinner and hang out that night.
